Today Times of India carried a news item that Delhi may host Sachin Tendulkar's 200th Test. If that happens, then obviously it'll be heartbreak for Mumbai. Incidentally Sachin, in his mail to BCCI, has expressed pleasure to play his last Test on home soil. By home, does he mean India or just Mumbai? It is open for debate. However, Delhi's reputation as a venue that can attract packed houses may play a role. Also, as the report suggests, the presence of political bigwigs and other powerful people may cause it to happen here.
Officials at the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), however, refused to confirm it. They say they have no intimation as the association president, Mr Arun Jaitley is unavailable and is out of the country. He'll be back only on the 22nd or 23rd of October.
Nevertheless, Delhi becomes one of the contenders apart from Mumbai, Kolkata and Ahmedabad, where the Test falls due to rotation. It may become one of the biggest tussles to host one of the most saleable Tests.
